Individual Counseling
Erie 1 BOCES school social worker provides 30 minute individual therapy sessions to a student enrolled in a BOCES educational program. Therapy is based on the student's IEP goals and/or social emotional needs.
Individual counseling sessions are 30 minutes in length provided by a licensed social worker, certified to work in a school. Counseling services include the school social worker ensuring needs are met for the indiividual student within the educational environment. Addtionally, school social worker is available for crisis intervention, assistance in the development of individualized behavior plans and classroom behavior management programs.

BOCES Responsibilities:
- Provide related services per IEP
- Provide supervision
- Provide staff development
- Perform formal evaluations of BOCES staff
- Participate in CSE/Annual Review Meetings
- Collect data for progress monitoring
- Provide quarterly updates on student progress
- Provide supplies, materials, technology
- Provide access to Intervention Resource Teacher
- Provide experienced staff
- Complete Medicaid paperwork
