FM Trial Program
This service assesses the appropriateness of an FM System by an Educational Audiologist for a student due to the identification of a Central Auditory Processing Disorder (CAPD) or concerns related to attending or listening in the classroom.
A thirty (30) school day assessment by a BOCES Educational Audiologist to determine the appropriateness of FM equipment (determined by Audiologist) for students with listening deficits, behavior concerns, CAPD or speech/language concerns. Program includes hearing screening (when appropriate), consultation with educational team, staff training on the utilization of the FM system, pre-post trial checklists and full report upon completion.
Please Note: This service is not for hearing impaired or cochlear implant students.
District Responsibilities

- Share the IEP
- Provide relevant educational information
- Notification of CSE/Annual Review Meetings
- Notification of Amendment Meeting
BOCES Responsibilities
- Provide services
- Provide routine monitoring
- Provide audiological support
- Collect data for progress monitoring
- Participate in CSE/Annual Review Meetings
