Small Group Speech District Enrolled Students
Erie 1 BOCES speech-language therapist provides 30 minute group therapy sessions to a student enrolled in a non-BOCES educational program. Therapy is based on the student's IEP speech-language goals. Groups consist of two to five students.
Speech-language therapists provide treatment of speech, language, voice, communication and/or auditory processing disorders. They provide training in social communication, augmentative communication and offer carry over activities for the classroom and home.
District Responsibilities:
- Complete the BOCES referral form
- Share the IEP
- Indicate Medicaid eligibility
- Provide relevant educational information
- Notification of CSE Meetings
- Notification of Amendment
- Send in re-evaluation requests
BOCES Responsibilities:
- Provide services per the IEP
- Complete all paperwork required by Medicaid
- Provide supervision
- Perform formal evaluation of BOCES staff
- Provide staff development
- Participate in CSE/Annual Review Meetings
- Provide quarterly updates on student progress
- Collect data for progress monitoring
