Short Term Suspension
The Short Term Suspension provides supervised classroom instruction for students who have been suspended from school for five days or less. Students are supervised with support from a certified teacher. Flexibility in using seat time is possible. The STS program is located at Northtowns Academy (Tonawanda) for High School Students or Winchester Academy (West Seneca) for Middle School Students
This in-school suspension program allows the student to continue to access the instruction/materials being offered in their home district.
District Responsibilities:
- Provide lessons
- Provide textbooks and all necessary materials
- Transportation of students
- Grade all work
- Communicate with Boces staff
BOCES Responsibilities:
- Provide full-day supervision with required instruction
- Provide services of guidance counselor
- Provide availability of special education consultant teachers for students with an IEP
- Provide formal evaluation of BOCES staff
- Provide staff developmentMonitor student assignment completion
- Student Resource Officer on premises
