EDGE Academy
EDGE Academy is a complete curricular program for Regents diploma bound students who need more. EDGE students will explore a series of five pathways, through project based learning, designed to help them focus their goals and find their passion in a supportive environment. Core academics and electives will combine the following five pathways:
- Art
- Business
- Career and Technical Education (CTE)
- Drama
- Music
Classes are located in a public school building that houses Alternative Education and Erie 1 BOCES Special Education classes. Trained teachers and administrators from Erie 1 BOCES are responsible for instruction, supervision and management of the building.
Additional services can be purchased for students with IEP based program / services needs in the areas of Consultant Teacher Services and Counseling Services. (see services 407.120.10 Consultant Teacher Services and 320.050 Individual Counseling Services)
DISTRICT Responsibilities:
- Send in complete referral for placement (including transcript and full discipline history)
- Transportation of students
- Provide current educational and health records including immunization records
- Provide access to student IEP when applicable
- Communication by district counselors with E1B school counselors
BOCES Responsibilities:
- Provide full academic program that meets all SED requirements for graduation
- Provide services of guidance counselors
- Provide availability of special education consultant teachers for students with an IEP
- Provide supervision
- Provide intake meeting
- Provide staff development
- Provide formal evaluation of BOCES staff
- Complete all required paperwork
- Collect data for progress monitoring
- Student Resource Officer on premises
- Administer NYS Assessments
