Young Audiences of Western New York, Inc.
Young Audiences presents professional artists who engage young people in creative learning through the Arts. Their wide range of programs reinforce core curriculum topics including math, science, socials studies, ELA, and career development. All programs are linked to the New York State Learning Standards. Art forms include many genres of music, multi-media arts, theater, dance, visual and literary arts. All programs are linked to the New York State Learning Standards and range from back-to-back performances to classroom workshops, to long-term residencies. Custom-designed residencies link thematically to classroom learning experiences and support the development of key learning skills. Programs for at-risk students and gifted and talented classes, as well as family-oriented programs for holiday and evening performances, are available through Young Audiences of Western New York offices. All programs must meet the New York State Standards of Learning.
The school district will be responsible to:
- Ensure that funds are available for Young Audiences of Western New York programming.
- Contact YAWNY about scheduling a program.
- Submit a Request Form six weeks prior to the date of the scheduled program. The request MUST be an original document signed by the district IDAB Administrator.
- Notify BOCES of any changes in the scheduled program in a timely manner.
- Verify in writing (email) that the program took place after the event.
The BOCES Arts in Education Department is available to assist both districts and artists through the process and will be responsible to:
- Verify that funds are available for the requested program.
- Create a Purchase Order for the program.
- Obtain an Invoice from YAWNY.
- Obtain an "okay to pay" from the school after the performance takes place.
- Submit the invoice and "okay to pay" to Accounting for payment.
