Authors/Poets in the Classroom
This Arts in Education service brings in well-known storytellers, authors, and illustrators of children's literature for in-school workshops. See 447.019
All programs must meet the New York State Standards of Learning.
The school district will be responsible to:1. Ensure that funds are available for Arts in Education programming either through initial participation or a cross-contract.2. Select programs that meet the NYS Learning Standards.3. Submit a Request Form six weeks prior to the date of the scheduled program. The request MUST be an original document signed by the district IDAB Administrator.4. Notify BOCES of any changes in the scheduled program in a timely manner.5. Verify in writing (e-mail) that the program took place after the event.
The Erie 1 BOCES Arts in Education Department is available to assist both districts and artists through the process and will be responsible to:1. Verify that funds are available for the requested program.2. Create and send a contract (either SPC, IEA, or PO) to the performer along with any other necessary paperwork and instructions for completion.3. Determine if the performer is required to be fingerprinted.4. Submit the signed SPC or IEA for Board Approval.5. Obtain an invoice from the performer.6. Obtain an "okay to pay" from the school after the performance takes place.7. Submit the approved contract, invoice, and "okay to pay," to Accounting for payment.
