Distance Education - Interactive Video Project Connect
This service provides Erie 1 BOCES component districts a wide variety of full subject matter K-16 courses that link area classrooms via video conferencing links.
These credit bearing courses can be one of a kind electives, Regents, advanced placement or college level and are taught by NYS certified teachers and college professors. District students and staff can also use the system to bring in virtual field trips or staff development opportunities from remote locations.
The service supports both Internet Protocol (IP) and Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN). Please note the service requires a minimum of six months planning. Services provided under 514 Instructional Media Resources are included as part of this service.
454.839 Hardware - Used for hardware purchase and installation. Planning and implementation process will take 6 - 12 months. Participation may depend on deployment of fiber optics and availability from the local phone company.
- Provides contact person to coordinate district/BOCES activities.
- Selects student candidates based on recommended criteria.
- Monitors and controls student attendance.
- Provides transportation for students to attend group meetings and lab activities as appropriate to course.
- Provides feedback for evaluation purposes through student survey.
The WNYRIC utilizes cost effective best practices determined by research that allows our experienced and trained technical staff to perform robust testing and support of the WNYRIC network in the area of security, infrastructure, energy management, virtualization strategies, disaster recovery and business continuity. Therefore, we are able to be a district advocate for vendor contract issues and aggressively
negotiate contract pricing and performance terms.
Staff follow best practice s in order to provide necessary security as it relates to the most recent student, teacher and principal data security and privacy regulations.
