Dignity for All Students Certification Training (DASA)
The Dignity for All Students ACT was established with strong legislative intent to provide a school environment free of discrimination and harassment. Identified in the legislation are those who may experience intimidation or abuse base on actual or perceived race, color, weight, national origin, ethnic group, religion, religious practice, disability, sexual orientation, gender or sex.
DASA training can help school districts to:
- Develop policies to create a school environment that is free from discrimination and or harassment
- Develop guidelines for a school training program to discourage discrimination and harassment designed to both raise awareness and sensitivity of school employees to potential discrimination or harassment and enable employees to prevent and respond to discrimination and harassment
Develop guidelines relating to the development of non-discriminatory instruction and counseling methods and build the capacity of staff members to handle human relations issues
The district will plan in advance and provide appropriate district representation at the training/session.
Provide appropriate district representation at all training/sessions.
This service includes planning, facilitation, preparation of materials, customization and collaboration among staff as needed by Erie 1 BOCES.
