PowerSchool Custom Programming

PowerSchool is known for its versatility and customizability. The district must submit a completed request form, including a mockup, which will then be analyzed by WNYRIC staff. The analysis includes, but is not limited to, the following considerations:

• Is there is an existing solution/alternative that will meet the district’s needs?
• Is it practical for WNYRIC to create customization regarding the time and effort that would be needed?
• Can it be supported by all or most of the PowerSchool support team?
• Is it something all districts would benefit from having?
• Does it require programming skills, such as HTML, SQL, CSS, etc.?
• Is it reasonably within the scope of a Student Management System?

A determination will be made whether each request falls into Customization or Advanced Customization.

Customization - done by the WNYRIC PowerSchool team, at no additional cost:

• Basic changes to district’s PowerSchool instance, based on district’s completed request form, including the creation of basic fields/tables/pages.
• Creation of a basic report that would be useful for the majority of districts and released for all. This would be added to WNYRIC’s queue and prioritized into our projected roadmap. If a district wants WNYRIC to make this our highest priority rather than releasing it on our timeframe, there would be an hourly cost to create the report immediately, at which time it would be released to all districts.
• WNYRIC is not responsible if future enhancements to PowerSchool cause customization to stop functioning as designed.

Advanced Customization - developed by WNYRIC Programming staff at $135/hour: 

• Creation of advanced custom reports that would be useful for the majority of districts and released for all. It would be added to WNYRIC’s queue and prioritized into our projected roadmap. If the district wishes to make this WNYRIC’s highest priority rather than the projected timeframe, there would be an hourly cost to create the report immediately, at which time it would be released to all districts.
• Creation of advanced custom reports to the district’s specifications. The district would provide a mockup of the report, define any sorts of filters, and specify parameters. WNYRIC programmers would create reports to the specifications as signed off on the Service Adjustment. Any additional changes after the project are signed would incur additional charges.
• Creation of advanced fields/tables/pages
• WNYRIC is not responsible if future enhancements to PowerSchool cause customization to stop functioning as designed.
• Any future changes would incur additional charges and would require a new completed form and Service Adjustment.
