ClassLink
Classlink provides Single Sign-On (SSO) to give students and teachers instant access to all their web resources from any device, gives access to all file locations in one view, delivers class rosters to digital learning resources using open data standards, and provides usage analytics via data dashboards.
ClassLink provides secure authentication methods, including Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), to keep student data safe. Second-factor options include mobile authenticators, mobile SMS and security keys.
The ClassLink site license includes the following components, which can be implemented together or separately depending on the district’s needs and timeline. Roster Server and One Sync may require additional hardware or fees.
Launchpad – Gives students and teachers access to everything they need with one password.
Analytics – Allows districts to keep track of digital learning resources so they can determine which ones are adding value. Reports can be viewed by building, grade level, classroom and individual.
File Access – Provides access to files on Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive and district networks.
OneSync – Takes information from student information systems and other databases and automatically creates accounts in Microsoft Active Directory, Google Directory and Office 365’s Azure Directory.
Roster Server – Delivers class rosters from student information systems to many digital learning resources securely using open data standards.
Web browser and other software and/or hardware requrements as per current vendor specifications.
- Designate at least one staff member as the ClassLink contact person and provide applicable information to the WNYRIC and vendor.
- Assign personnel to be trained in the managing of ClassLink processes.
- Participate in implementation meetings with vendor and WNYRIC personnel and communicate plans to district staff.
- Update ClassLink Project Management system during implementation phase.
- Complete configuration and vendor contact tasks as assigned by ClassLink Project Manager.
- Assign appropriate personnel to enter and maintain data in source systems.
- Allow Vendor and WNYRIC personnel access to appropriate systems for setup, configuration, and ongoing support of Single Sign on and data connections.
- Alert the WNYRIC and/or vendor to problems and issues with sign on or data flow.
WNYIRC Responsibilities
- Provide a means for purchasing necessary hardware and software to be utilized with this service.
- Coordinate implementation process with Classlink project manager.
- Attend implementation phone conferences.
- Coordinate setup of data connection from Student Management System and other applicable data sources.
- Assist district and vendor with implementation and support.
- Maintain strict confidentiality.
- Host user meetings and workshops.
The WNYRIC utilizes cost effective best practices determined by research that allows our experienced and trained technical staff to perform robust testing and support of the WNYRIC network in the areas of security, infrastructure, energy management, virtualization strategies, disaster recovery and business continuity. Therefore, we are able to be a district advocate for vendor contract issues and aggressively negotiate contract pricing and performance terms.
Staff follows best practices in order to provide necessary security as it relates to the most recent student, teacher and principal data security and privacy regulations.
Service Desk can be reached Monday – Friday from 7:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. A representative will be available from 4:30 p.m. through 11:00 p.m. to assist you with calls regarding emergency situations. During all other hours and holidays, a caller will receive important information regarding coverage.
