Substitute Training & Recruitment Services - STARS
This is a new emerging service to develop problem-solutions needed to mitigate the substitute teacher shortage. This service will be built to meet specific needs of each school district enrolled in the service.
We are working in partnership with an advisory committee consisting of district administrators. We share the same understanding of our mission, the commitment to our team’s short and long-term goals and our roles, responsibilities and the need for this service.
Tentatively, we are categorizing this service into three modules:
- Recruiting (job fairs, advertising, making connections at universities) - our focus initially
- Screening (application, vetting, interviewing, review of certification/references, etc.)
- Retention (how do we keep the substitutes (custom professional development courses and/or modules, STEDI, substitute handbook, etc.).
