Project Search
Project Search is a high school transitional program for students 18-21 years old. Classes and job rotations are held at Beechwood Continuing Care. Students attend employability skills classes that focus on finances, nutrition and resume’ writing. Students are matched to the most appropriate job based on interest and skills. Job coaches on site to assist students. Job placement is the final goal of Project Search.
- Must be 18-21 years old
- All high school requirements and/or coursework completed
- Independent toileting and feeding skills
- Basic communication skills
District Responsibilities:
- Send in referral for placement
- Share IEP
- Complete Project Search paperwork
- Provide current educational and health records including immunization records
- Notification of CSE/Annual Review Meetings
- Notification of any Amendment Meeting
BOCES Responsibilities:
- Supervisory support to collaborators and BOCES staff
- Instructional and Intervention Resource teachers available to staff
- Provide updated information and training on special education issues/mandates
- Provide staff development for all staff
- Implementation of student’s IEP
- Provide formal evaluation of BOCES staff
- Provide material/supplies money for BOCES staff
- Administer NYS Assessments
- Participate in CSE/Annual Review Meetings
- Provide quarterly update on student progress
- Collect data for progress monitoring
