Short Term Suspension
The Short Term Suspension provides supervised classroom instruction for students who have been suspended from school for five days or less. Students are supervised with support from a certified teacher. Flexibility in using seat time is possible. The STS program is located at Northtowns Academy (Tonawanda) or EDGE (Cheektowaga)
This in-school suspension program allows the student to continue to access the instruction/materials being offered in their home district.
District Responsibilities:
- Provide lessons
- Provide textbooks and all necessary materials
- Transportation of students
- Grade all work
- Communicate with Boces staff
BOCES Responsibilities:
- Provide full-day supervision with required instruction
- Provide services of guidance counselor
- Provide availability of special education consultant teachers for students with an IEP
- Provide formal evaluation of BOCES staff
- Provide staff developmentMonitor student assignment completion
- Student Resource Officer on premises
