Positive Behavioral Systems: PBIS and Safe and Civil Schools
Positive Behavioral Systems:
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and Safe and Civil Schools are Response to Intervention (RtI) for behavioral programs. They incorporate three-tiered proactive systems approach focused upon enhancing the capacity of schools to educate all students.
Implementing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports is a process, not a curriculum; therefore each program is unique to the features that the school provides. The syllabus for training is in compliance with the standards set forth by the NYS-PBIS initiative and it is followed with fidelity. Fidelity to this research-based school-wide system of support is the key to successful implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports.
