Chromebook Prep - White Glove
Give your school district a complete out-of-the-box solution for Google Chrome Operating System devices. Eligible Products: Any single system with Chrome operating system preinstalled and supported by the hardware manufacturer. The White Glove Configuration will have your users up and running the moment their Chromebook or Chrome operating service device arrives. Cost:RIC-based Prep: $10/device with a minimum of 15 devices; if less than 15 devices the cost is $15/device. In District Prep: $15/device with a minimum of of 15 devices; if less than 15 devices the cost is $20/device.
Why would my district use this service?
- Users can be up and running out-of-the-box.
- Eliminate the need to ship Chrome OS devices to your district’s central IT office, unbox, configure, repackage and then ship them to your final destination.
- Keep your projects on schedule by virtually eliminating out-of-box failure, dead-on-arrival deliveries and merchandise replacements. All defective Chromebooks will be exchanged by the WNYRIC.
- Free your IT staff to focus on other issues/projects.
What is included in the White Glove Configuration for Google Chrome OS?
- Update the Chrome OS to the latest version.
- Enroll the Chrome OS device into your district. Google Apps domain using an enrollment account you create which does not require admin privileges.
- WNYRIC standard asset tag (upon request your district tag can be applied and recorded at no additional charge).
District Requirements:
- A secure wireless network
- The district must designate a contact for this WNYRIC service for coordination purposes.
- Provide the WNYRIC a user name and password for a standard user that the district has set up in their Google Domain.
- Coordinate delivery date of Chromebooks with WNYRIC to insure White Glove Service is performed as close as possible to first use of the Chromebook. This is to insure the White Glove Prep is most effective to include latest Google updates.
Service parameters:
- The system required for configuration will be unboxed.
- The system will be thoroughly inspected for physical damage or blemishes.
- The system will be powered on and inspected for hardware and/or software errors.
- The system will be replaced if device is determined defective.
- The system will be updated to the latest/approved Chrome OS release by performing full update to latest stable channel release version at time of configuration.
- The system will be enrolled to the domain by performing Enterprise enrollment and validation.
- The system will be tagged with a standard Erie 1 BOCES tag. If the district wishes to have a district tag added at no charge, they must provide the WNYRIC with those tags.
- The system will be re-boxed and stored in the WNYRIC warehouse until your district is ready to receive.
- Systems will be shipped.
- Systems will be picked up and disposed of once the district determines end of life.

Therefore, we are able to be a district advocate for vendor contract issues and aggressively negotiate contract pricing and performance terms. Staff follow best practices in order to provide necessary security as it relates to the most recent student, teacher and principal data security and privacy regulations.
