Multi-Tiered Systems of Support MTSS
This work will be aligned with Diagnostic Tool for School and District Effectiveness (DTSDE). Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) is a response to intervention framework designed to assist schools in focusing on academic and behavioral interventions for all students and specific interventions for those who may be struggling. This work is grounded in research and emphasizes a multi-tiered support system framework including (a) measurable outcomes, (b) evidence-based practices, (c) implementation systems, and (d) data for decision making.
This service assists districts with data conversion from ADA to actionable chronic absentee categories and provides training, technical assistance and an attendance improvement tool kit for developing a school, community and district-wide response to attendance improvement.
Tier 1 Universal Practices/Systems address school-wide practices and focuses on building a foundation of school-wide expectations, teaching and acknowledgement strategies, team decision-making based on data, and the design of efficient and proactive classroom environments.
Tier 2 Targeted Practices/Systems – involves the development and implementation of supplemental interventions that are provided with an increased level of intensity for students who show some risk of not meeting grade level standards and/or at-risk behaviors. This may include targeted individual or group interventions and specific classroom intervention strategies.
Tier 3 Intensive Practices/Systems - focuses on the creation of intensive, individualized interventions for students with high-risk needs. Tier 3 interventions are tailored specifically to meet the needs of individual students.
