Maintenance - Servers and Misc. Equipment
- Maintenance is required (mandatory) on any server purchased through a BOCES project or on any district-owned server used to provide a WNYRIC service once the manufacturer's warranty expires.
- A district-owned server running on the WNYRIC network also has the option of being put on a maintenance contract.
- District has an option of purchasing server maintenance in addition to the manufacturer's warranty.
- Annual cost for a server contract is $180.00.
- Miscellaneous equipment can be put on a maintenance contract once the manufacturer's warranty expires. Includes but not limited to SAN equipment, autoloaders, powervaults, Exagrid and Equallogic units, tektronix solid ink printers.
- Xerox phaser printers (except 790, 850, 860, 8200 models) can be put on an annual contract.
- Refer to related services code 650.870 for full service details.
- Designate one or more persons as the WNYRIC contact to call for service.
- Provide access to the equipment in need of repair.
- Provide adequate explanation of problem to service personnel.
- If manufacturer's warranty only, district must have staff member available to troubleshoot with manufacturer if necessary.
The Service Desk:
- Will place the call to the service provider and follow up for problem resolution.
- Will maintain a spreadsheet of all equipment covered under a maintenance contract.

A representative will be available from 4:30 p.m. through 11:00 p.m. to assist you with calls regarding emergency situations. During all other hours and holidays, a caller will receive important information regarding coverage.
- Ensures service personnel are covered by the New York State SAVE legislation that requires fingerprint verification by SED.
- Staff follow best practices in order to provide necessary security as it relates to the most recent student, teacher and principal data security and privacy regulations.
